The Production of Our Cashmere Scarves

Cashmere is the fine undercoat of the cashmere goat. The production process is complex and labor-intensive, which explains the high prices of high-quality cashmere products.

The cashmere wool is harvested primarily by hand and requires great care, as the goats yield only about 150–250 g per year. The subsequent processing steps—such as sorting, washing, spinning, and knitting—are also carried out mostly by hand. About 1.4 kg of the finest cashmere wool —the wool from about 7 goats —is needed to make a high-quality cashmere blanket.

The fineness of the cashmere fiber is crucial for softness and quality. The finer the fibers, the higher the quality and the more expensive the final product. Cashmere products are made from 2, 4, 6, or 8 cashmere threads. The more cashmere threads used, the denser and heavier the fabric.
